Screw Screen

Introduction

The Screw Screen by Purecreek Environmental Services is a reliable solution for the mechanical pretreatment of wastewater. Designed for municipal and industrial applications, it effectively removes solids, rags, and fibrous materials while protecting downstream pumps, tanks, and treatment processes. With an optional integrated compactor, it reduces screenings volume and disposal costs.

Applications

  • Municipal wastewater headworks and pumping stations
  • Industrial wastewater: food & beverage, pulp & paper, petrochemical, mining
  • Protection of downstream membranes, pumps, and biological processes

How It Works

Wastewater enters through the screen section, where solids are retained while liquids pass through. A spiral screw conveyor transports the captured solids upwards. In compactor models, the screenings are dewatered and volume is reduced by up to 40–50%. This ensures minimal waste handling and cleaner plant operation.
