Fine Bar-Hook Screen
Introduction

The Hook Screen from Purecreek Environmental Services is a fine screening solution designed for automatic removal of smaller debris and solids from wastewater. With hook-style bars and frequent automatic cleaning, this equipment helps protect downstream systems such as pumps, membranes, and biological units, reducing maintenance and improving treatment efficiency.
Applications
Municipal wastewater pretreatment, especially in headworks and pumping stations
Industrial wastewater treatment (food & beverage, chemical, textile)
Protection of fine screens, membrane systems, and sensitive downstream equipment
Stormwater and combined sewer overflow systems
How It Works
Wastewater flows through a set of closely spaced hook bars. Solid debris is trapped on the upstream side of the bars. An automatic mechanism, often involving rakes or hooks that pull upward or lift the debris, then pushes it to a discharge outlet (bucket or conveyor). Frequent operation and automatic cleaning maintain consistent performance and prevent blockages.
Models & Options
Bar Spacing & Bar Type: hook bars with spacing adjustable (e.g. 2-20 mm) depending on debris size and project needs

Key Benefits
Fine screening prevents small solids (plastics, fibres, fine debris) from entering downstream treatment
Automatic cleaning reduces manual cleaning labor and risk of blockages
Extends lifetime of pumps, membranes, and other sensitive equipment
Customization for bar spacing and materials ensures good performance in diverse wastewater types
Compact design, adaptable to retrofit in existing infrastructure
Compliance
Purecreek bar screen hook units are manufactured in partnership with SEFT Group and engineered to meet Canadian engineering and safety standards (CSA / UL / ETL). All materials and components are selected to resist corrosion and wear.
Case Reference
In a regional wastewater plant, installation of a fine bar screen hook reduced fine debris load entering membrane filtration by 50%, resulting in extended filter life and decreased maintenance downtime.
Maintenance & Operation
Routine inspection of hook bars, rakes, and cleaning mechanisms
Replaceable bars and wear parts
Automated cleaning schedules to avoid manual interventions
Safety guards and easy access for maintenance
