Wastewater Treatment Technologies
PureCreek Environmental Services Inc. provides a full range of technologies and equipment for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.
Our systems combine mechanical, physical-chemical, biological, and tertiary purification processes — ensuring reliable, energy-efficient, and regulatory-compliant treatment results.
Mechanical Treatment
Purpose: removal of coarse and suspended solids.
Mechanical treatment is the first and most essential stage of any wastewater system. It separates large debris, sand, grease, and grit, protecting downstream biological and chemical processes.
Typical equipment:
- Bar screens, drum or step screens
- Screw compactors and conveyors
- Grit and grease removal units
- Combined pretreatment systems (screen + grit chamber + grease trap)
This stage removes up to 60–70% of suspended solids (TSS) and significantly reduces the load on following stages.

Physical-Chemical Treatment
Purpose: removal of fine particles, colloids, emulsions, and part of dissolved pollutants.
In this stage, chemical reagents such as electrochemical, oxidation, coagulants, flocculants, lime, or pH neutralizers are used to enhance sedimentation or flotation.
Main processes and systems:
- Hydroxyl radical •OH (Peroxone, Photolysis, Fenton, etc.)
- Oxidation by Ozone
- Neutralization and precipitation of heavy metals and phosphates
- Coagulation and flocculation units for particle agglomeration
- DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) for separation of light solids and fats
- Adsorption and ion exchange for removal of residual organics
Physical-chemical systems are ideal for industrial effluents (food, oil, metal, textile, chemical sectors).

Biological Treatment
Purpose: degradation of organic and nitrogenous compounds by microorganisms.
Biological processes convert organic matter (BOD, COD) into stable biomass and clean water.
Main technologies:
- Aerobic reactors
- Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) technology — high-rate, compact, low-sludge formation
- SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor)
- MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) systems
- Anaerobic reactors (UASB, digesters) for high-load industrial wastewater
These processes ensure up to 95% removal of organic pollutants, achieving stable, environmentally safe discharge.
Tertiary Treatment and Disinfection
Purpose: final polishing and disinfection before reuse or discharge.
This step removes remaining suspended solids, nutrients, and microorganisms.
Methods include:
- Sand and activated carbon filtration
- Ozone or UV disinfection
- Reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration for water reuse
- Ion exchange and polishing filters
Tertiary treatment enables reuse of treated water for irrigation, process water, or cooling systems.
Sludge Treatment and Dewatering
Purpose: reduction of sludge volume and preparation for disposal or reuse.
After sedimentation and biological treatment, sludge is thickened, stabilized, and dewatered.
Equipment used:
- Gravity thickeners and DAF sludge concentrators
- Screw press or belt filter press
- Centrifuges and filter presses
- Sludge drying and lime stabilization systems
Efficient sludge management minimizes disposal costs and environmental impact.
